hey where's the snow?208 viewsearly March, 2007...along track and tower trail in Alqonquin Park...'difficult' conditions due to lack of snow. We chose to stay on the land trails as many creeks, beaver dams, lakes were already wet and too slush for fun pulling. Thats a black plastic sled from Can Tire with haul bars made from white plastic plumbing pipe. Great on twisting, turning hiking trails.

Home Made Anorak - the Front Pocket448 viewsJust as we started to put it together. The two sides will easily each hold a large leather mitt. The little pockets on the front were designed to hold odds 'n ends like matches, a compass, fire starters, etc.

Completed Home-Made Anorak - Hood Up446 viewsThe anorak with the hood up and cinched tight around the face.
Home Made Anorak - Hood Up382 viewsThe hood is very deep, and extends well beyond the front of the face - not great for peripheral vision, but it sure cuts the wind well.
Home Made Anorak - Opened Up320 viewsHere's what the neck looks like opened up with the hood down. The big triangular gusset in the front makes the opening very large and helps ventilate if you get hot.

Squirrel tunneling towards bird feeder190 viewsAbout 30cm of powder snow have made it impractical for the squirrel to bound across the lawn to reach the seeds below the bird feeder. So s/he tunneled towards it from the hedge in the back ground. There are two "air holes" (right and bottom right) pushed out from underneath, but no tracks leading away from those.

Makobe's Challenge293 viewsThe Makobe River route was definitely challenging....with many portages (and we were not light), it made for a physically and mentally demanding trip. Nothing like the end of a hard days work, by the fire, to rejuvenate, though!!!!

What an AMAZING route and an INCREDIBLE experience!
