Pekans - Moisie portage1278 viewsIt took us a while to find start of Pekans/Moisie portage. Very buggy - blackflies. Portage trail wasn't easy to follow esp. at the start. At one point, side path splits off to the right (but then ends soon). Main trail goes straight up the rock and it's hard to see. We portaged in two and a half passes. It was a very hard portage: rocky, muddy at the places, with one gully to cross.

Lake Huron - Bayfield, ON1714 viewsAfter paddling along the Bayfield River, past Hwy 21 bridge and through Harbour Lights Marnia and out into the depths of Lake Huron. This is what is left of a sunken Steamer that was hauled from Owen Sound and then from Goderich. It is stuck about a half mile from Bayfield beach. The boys were quite nervous on this paddle...they were glad when we went ashore for lunch and a swim.
